I fancy myself a horror buff. I’ve seen everything from amazing horror to the bottom of the barrel straight to Netflix lot. When I read about this wonderful little genre bender making its way around the circuit, I knew I wanted to check it out.
When it came to direct TV on demand, the first thing I said was, “movie night?!”
Chelsea was hesitant. It wasn’t the first time I’d picked a bad movie (I’m still guilty of a crap one here and there… Like Horns). But I’d also had a track record of picking some winners. I forced her to see Shaun of the Dead in theaters and she hasn’t stopped thanking me (she has… Stopped years ago).
When we finished Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil, we were floored by how funny the film was; how absolutely CLEVER it is. It’s a film that makes fun of the tropes in horror films, slashers like Last House on the Left or I Spit on Your Grave, and turns them around. It’s a film that I’ve recommended to everyone, horror film lovers and haters alike, because it’s such a spectacular example of wonderful writing. I even recommended it to Travis for months to do a rewatch for it.
Thankfully for us, he finally suggested it.
